Gloria Elizabeth Maxey peacefully left this world on December 15, 2024, after a lengthy battle with dementia. She was born on February 25, 1942, in Walterboro, South Carolina.  She moved a few times as a child as her father was in the United States Marine Corps.  As an adult she settled in Charleston where she enjoyed a career as a typesetter. In her younger years she enjoyed the world of CB radio and could be found every weekend at a dragstrip either as a driver, pit crew, or on staff in the tower.  Her biggest joy came in 1989 when the first of three granddaughters was born.  She loved being a mama more than anything.  She loved playing any kind of card game and enjoyed yelling “BINGO” at any of the local Bingo halls.  Welcoming her into His kingdom were her father, Everette Graham Maxey; mother, Elizabeth Kinsey Maxey Way; son, Jackie Lenair Evans, Jr.; daughter, Elizabeth Lea Beach; and a niece, Amber Elizabeth Fulford. She is survived by her sister, Joy Ann Maxey of Charleston; son, Ronald Everette Beach (Dwan) of Manning; daughter, Joy Denise Phillips (Chris) of Carolina Shores, North Carolina; a niece, Tiffanie Renee Rogers (Randy) of Apex, North Carolina; granddaughter, Kirsteena Ashlee Criswell (Carlos) of Ladson; granddaughter, Brittanee Marie Clark (Sidney) of Fort Myers, Florida; granddaughter, Sierra Autumn Phillips of North Charleston; and great grandchildren, Jaxson, Evalee, Kayleigh, Oliver, and Sadie.   A memorial service was held at 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, January 4, 2025, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Arrangements By: The Brice W. Herndon And Sons Funeral Homes And Crematory, Walterboro Chapel, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro, 843.538.5408.  Visit the registry online at: www.briceherndonfuneralhome.com.
