Margaret Elizabeth “Beth” Gibson

Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth “Beth” Gibson, wife of David Lee “Dave” Gibson, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at the Greenville Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.  She was 73.

Beth was born April 20, 1949 a daughter of the late Perry Calhoun Ackerman and Mary Margaret Steedly Ackerman. For over twenty-eight years she was a wonderful teacher and mentor to the school children of Colleton County.  She loved reading to children, and was active in Camp Happy Days and the Colleton County Guardian Ad Litem program.  Beth enjoyed spending days at the beach with her family and friends, and was a devoted wife and mother.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children Christopher Perry Gibson and Elizabeth Lee Gibson of Simpsonville, as well as by two sisters, Annette Dyal (Wayne) and Perry Ann Foss (Tom) of Walterboro. There are a host of nieces and nephews that affectionately referred to Beth as “aunt BeBe”.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, June 11, 2022 at 11:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home.  A private burial will follow at the Ackerman Cemetery at Red Oak.  The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Beth’s memory to either Camp Happy Days, or to the Colleton County Guardian Ad Litem program.
