A 28-year-old Walterboro man was shot in his arm at Lincoln Apartments in Walterboro on Monday night. According to Colleton County Fire-Rescue (CCFR) personnel, the shooting occurred at about 11 p.m. The victim suffered a “severe injury” to his arm during the shooting, said CCFR Chief Barry McRoy. After he had been shot, the man ran to a nearby apartment asking for help. There, an unidentified Good Samaritan used towels to control the man’s “profuse bleeding,” said McRoy.

The man was treated at the scene by firefighter-paramedics before being taken to Colleton Medical Center. From there, he was flown to the trauma center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.

The Walterboro Police Department is investigating this shooting.

As of press deadline, there were no other details available and no known arrests had occurred.
