Local authorities are still investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, Nov. 28th in a parking lot near the Little Caesar’s pizzeria in Walterboro.
The shooting victim is identified as 27-year-old Colleton County resident Wendell Brown, according to the Colleton County Coroner’s Office.
According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the shooting occurred in the JGBR parking lot, which is located in a joint area that sits next to the Little Caesar’s parking lot. The sheriff’s office incident report states the victim was found with “multiple” gunshot wounds to his torso, the report states.
According to Colleton County Fire-Rescue Director Barry McRoy, a 911-caller said a man was seen “down” in the parking lot of the restaurant. “A courageous off-duty nurse was at the location, ran to the victim and began administering aid,” said McRoy.
Despite the nurse’s efforts, firefighter-paramedics could not revive the victim, said McRoy.
McRoy said both northbound lanes of North Jefferies Boulevard were blocked for more than one-and-a-half hours.
This shooting is still under investigation by the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office.
