Man dies after Sidneys Road crash

Posted

An adult man was critically injured in a single-car wreck in the 7500 block of Sidneys Road on Sunday afternoon Nov. 15 at 5:38 p.m.
The Nissan Maxima left the roadway at a high rate of speed, entered the ditch, then collided with a tree before striking a driveway culvert and flipping over several times. The car landed on the roof in a ditch containing water.
The unrestrained driver was found unconscious in the water, trapped in the wreckage.
Firefighter-paramedics used rescue tools to force open a door to access the driver and found the man in cardiac arrest. Crews began resuscitative efforts and began transport to Colleton Medical Center. Firefighter-paramedics had additional crew members assist with care enroute to the hospital and successfully regained pulses on the patient.
Once they arrived at Colleton Medical Center, the Emergency Department staff continued efforts to stabilize the man. He was later flown by the C.A.R.E. Flight helicopter to the Trauma Center at Trident Hospital in North Charleston.
Harry Adams, 70, of Walterboro later died from his injuries.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
