Man critically injured when motorcycle, car collide

A motorcycle and a car collided on Bells Highway on Friday, August 27th.
The 3:30 p.m. crash occurred near the 8700 block of S.C. Highway 64, otherwise known as Bells Highway. During the crash, the motorcyclist was thrown into a nearby ditch. His bike was “heavily damaged” and was found by rescue crews on scene, according to Colleton County Fire-Rescue Chief Barry McRoy. Paramedic-firefighters responded to the crash scene and treated the motorcyclists’ injuries on site. They then transported him to a helipad at Colleton Medical Center, where a CARE Flight medical helicopter took the man to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.
There are no details on the injuries of the driver of the vehicle.
According to McRoy, the S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
