ASSAULT. An adult male was brought to Fire Station #18 at Bells Crossroads by private vehicle following an assault Wednesday Sept. 23 at 5:45 p.m. The man was severely beaten and received facial trauma and a head injury. Shortly after arrival, he became unconscious. Firefighter-paramedics treated the man at the scene and requested the CARE Flight medical helicopter. A second ambulance also in the area responded to assist. Both crews treated the man, then rapidly transported him to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center. He was flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
