A single vehicle accident south of the I-95 rest area injured one on Friday, August 9th. The small car was traveling southbound, when it left the roadway at a high rate of speed, hit a ditch, and overturned. The driver suffered multiple life-threatening injuries. Colleton County Firefighter-Paramedics stabilized the car and extricated the male driver from the vehicle. A medical helicopter from CARE Flight flew to a Landing Zone at the southbound rest area. The patient was flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
