Making A Case for Kids Summer Reading

PRESS RELEASE-Acclaimed Children’s Author & Illustrator Ashley Belote Available for Insights-

Summer vacation from school is in full swing, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t encourage kids to take time to engage with a book.

In reality, we are on the cusp of the start of a new school year, and having a child include the pleasures of reading into their summer plans is something that can help a child not only get a jump on classroom learning but build an appreciation for books.

One such proponent of kid’s summer reading is acclaimed children’s author and illustrator Ashley Belote. The protege of World renowned animator Don Bluth (The Land Before Time, An American Tale), Ms. Belote’s books are colorful, engaging, and full of important lessons about friendship, compassion plus the power of science, and learning in books like FRANKENSLIME, VALENSLIME, THE ME TREE, and her latest, LISTEN UP, LOUELLA. All are currently available on Amazon or by visiting https://www.ashleybelote.com.

Ashley says of the importance of kids’ summer reading,  “Reading in Summer is essential because it gives kids an opportunity to make reading decisions for themselves. So many things are decided for kids, but when it comes to summer book programs, they are free to choose books they are interested in reading. It teaches kids that you can do reading for fun and in your leisure time. It’s not just something to be done at school or for a grade. Summer reading also helps maintain literacy skills learned throughout the previous school year. Being able to get lost in stories has so many benefits beyond entertainment. Reading can help kids develop empathy, vocabulary, comprehension skills, and imagination. When provided with opportunities to experience the magic of stories on their own time, kids develop a lifelong love of reading.”
