Mr. Luther William "Billy" Carter Jr., husband of Teresa S. Carter, passed away Saturday morning July 4, 2020 at Roper Hospital in Charleston. He was 66.
Billy was born in Charleston, SC January 31, 1954 a son of the late Luther William Carter Sr. and Mary Campbell Carter. Beginning in the mid-seventies, he was the general manager of the Hardee's in Walterboro, and served in that capacity for fifteen years. He later became the owner and operator of "Skydive Walterboro" where he instructed and trained countless individuals in skydiving. Billy was a true Christian, and would always minister and lend a "helping hand" to those that were down on their luck or simply needed guidance in life. He was an active member of Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, church treasurer and Sunday School Teacher. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Bill Carter (Melissa) of Hampton, and Kristen Carter of Charlotte. He has one sister, Mary Anne Mullins (Johnny) of Knightsdale, NC and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Bobby and James Carter.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, July 7, 2020 at 11:00 at Zion Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 in the church sanctuary. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
