After a full and carefree life, Mrs. Beatrice W. Lovitt entered into rest on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga. The daughter of the late Reverend Vernon Wilson and Ms. Rebecca Jenkins was born on June 28, 1937, in Green Pond, SC. Beatrice, affectionately known as “Bea”, attended the Catholic School on Catholic Hill, SC and in 1954, at an early age, Bea relocated to Paterson, NJ where she began her career at General Electric producing electrical coils. Bea met Mr. Larry Lovitt Sr, an electrical supervisor at General Electric in 1955 and he truly became the “love of her life”. They married in Baltimore, Md and along with their unified families, they blended seven wonderful children. When General Electric moved their New Jersey branch to Pennsylvania in 1968, Bea and Larry relocated to Philadelphia, PA. Bea retired from General Electric and she and Larry found their retirement home in Albany, GA in 1991. After relaxing at home for a while, Bea decided to return to work, so she began to drive school bus for the Dougherty County School System until she retired permanently in 2010. Bea was always a cheerful, pleasant and joyous person to be around, the life of the party! She loved spending time with family and friends. Her favorite pastime was taking pictures of anyone who would pose or stand still long enough for her to snap one. We will truly miss her smiling face. 2 Corinthians 5:8 says: “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. Bea was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Lovitt Sr, four sons; Tony Lovitt (Margaret), Larry Lovitt Jr (Agnes), Marvin Lovitt (Eloise), Sean Lovitt (Nekeysha) and two brothers; Edward Johnson and Levi Manigo. Those left to cherish her memories are: three children: Charles Lovitt of Albany, GA; Janie W Riley of Philadelphia, PA; Patricia Lovitt of Newport News, Va, and an adopted daughter/niece: Regina Bryant of Savannah, Ga, one sister: Arthurrea Bryant of Glassboro, NJ and one brother: Richard Lee Manigo of Philadelphia, Pa, seventeen grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
