The Friends of the Colleton County Library will hold a book signing event featuring New York Times bestselling author Mary Alice Monroe on May 14th from 5-6 PM. The event will be a meet-and-greet with a limited supply of her book, “Where the Rivers Merge,” priced at $25, a $5 discount from the $30 list price. Attendees can get the book signed. Carl Coffin, Library Director says, “We are actually very fortunate that we got her, because this is the second or third day of her national book tour and for her to stop here in Walterboro is kind of a big deal for us.”
The event is free and open to the public at the Main Library Meeting Room, 600 Hampton Street in Walterboro. The library will have 100 books available for purchase. Barnes & Noble provided the books at a discount.
The Friends of the Library, a nonprofit supporting the library, will host the event. The Friends is a nonprofit that actually that supports the library. They help to raise money for programs like summer reading, book clubs, as well as book sales and community events. They also support the library not just for programs. They also will give grant money for technology, to buy new computers or books, if there’s a special need or special program the library is doing, they also provide funds. The Friends of the Library, typically meet first Friday of every month. Membership starts at $15 a year.
