In 2012, I was honored to be invited to open a training school at the Skills Center located at 1085 Thunderbolt Drive in Walterboro to teach short term in Machining, Welding, and CDL. Since that time, palmetto Training has proudly served the people, industries, and schools of Colleton County and the surrounding areas.
Over the years, we have trained more than 2,000 students, preparing them with the skills and certifications needed to enter the workforce and meet the demands of our local industries. It has been our privilege to play a role in building a stronger, more skilled community.
Recently, we have been asked to leave our location, and the Technical College of the Lowcountry will be located in the building, however TCL will not offer the same educational training to the community and industries Palmetto Training has offered since 2021.
To all of our students, partners, and community supporters—thank you for the opportunity to serve. Though we are moving on, our mission remains the same, and we look forward to new opportunities ahead.
