The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is advising drivers of safety checkpoints to be conducted during the evening of October 18th.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Network will conduct these checkpoints in the Green Pond and Jacksonboro. The checkpoints will allow law enforcement to conduct driver’s license, sobriety, and impairment checks, confirmation of proper use of child safety restraints and any other violations noted at the checkpoint.
This comes amid data from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety stating that, in 2023, South Carolina had 809 traffic related fatalities in 2003 and has had 738 deaths as of October 1, 2024.
Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling the checkpoint.
