The most recent development in the case of the murder of six people in Greenpond addresses the matter of phone calls by charged suspect Ryan Manigo made while in jail in Colleton and Clarendon Counties. In October of 2023, Judge Robert Bonds ruled the phone calls from jail are a matter of public record and could be released under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Between then and now multiple appeals have been filed to keep these phone calls private, but on May 5, 2025, the South Carolina Court of Appeals ruled in favor of those seeking the phone calls be made public under FOIA.
In 2023 murder suspect Ryan Manigo was arrested and charged in the murders of six residents in Greenpond in addition to many other charges. The decedents are Shamiah Rutledge, Maggie Magwood, Sa’Riya Manigo, Amos “Geech” Magwood, Michelle Wright, and Allen Jefferson. Miss Kamora Wright was able to escape and was instrumental in identifying Manigo to law enforcement facilitating his subsequent apprehension and arrest.
