Mr. Larry Wayne Colson, Sr., 69, of Cottageville, entered into rest Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Select Medical in Augusta, Georgia.

Born July 21, 1951 in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Raymond Ernest Colson and the late Earlene Geneva Clark Colson. He served faithfully in the South Carolina Army National Guard, where he retired following twenty-one years of service.  He then worked for the Colleton County School District, where he retired from maintenance and custodial departments following twenty-six years of service, having been a familiar face to so many and an icon at the Hampton Street Auditorium for many years.  He truly loved our God and his family.  He was a faithful member of the Walterboro Church of God where he served as a deacon for thirty-five years.   He enjoyed decorating his yards for seasons and holidays, reading the bible, fishing, camping, and being with his family. 

Surviving are: his wife of forty-eight years, Mrs. Kathy Fraser Colson; four children, Larry Wayne Colson, Jr. (Heather), Kevin Scott Colson, Sr. (Michelle), Raymond Webb Colson (Michelle), and DeeDee Colson McCubbins (Billy); four sisters, Jinnie Frasier, Terry Pattison, Charlene Frazier, and Debbie Miranda; a brother, Michael Clark; twenty-four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He is survived by a large host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.  He was preceded in death by three sisters, Diane, Patsy, Edna; a brother, Allen; his mother-in-law, Patricia Fraser; four brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law. 

Flowers will be accepted, or the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to the following: Colleton County Relay for Life, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406; or to, Walterboro Church of God, 4582 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon, April 10, 2021, from the Walterboro Church of God, 4582 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro.   Interment with veteran honors will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.   The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 11 o’clock in the church sanctuary.
