The Lady Legends 17U travel volleyball team captured first place in the Palmetto Region’s Southern Classic, held January 15-16 in Rock Hill.
The Lady Legends went 2-2 in pool play Saturday before advancing to bracket competition. With adverse weather conditions forecasted for Rock Hill Sunday, many teams opted to head home, allowing the Lady Legends to advance in the Gold Backet. They would play defeat two teams to capture the top spot and earn the Palmetto Region’s Southern Classic Championship, going 4-2 on the weekend.
“We lost the first pool game with scores of 25-12, 25-21,” said Coach Hannah Perritte. “The next two games we won 25-23, 25-11 and 25-16, 26-24. We then lost the last pool game with scores of 25-20 and 25-14. Moving into bracket play, most teams forfeited and returned home, placing us in the gold bracket. Overall, this weekend was a great win for our team,” said Perritte. “I am extremely happy with the progress and effort the girls have given over the last few months. We are excited to take on this journey and bring home more wins for our small town.”
The Lady Legends will compete in Rock Hill on Sunday, January 30.
