Lady Indians improve to 11-5 in Region X

The Salkehatchie Lady Indians are on a four-game win streak after earning victories over Catawba Valley (72-57) and Southwest VA (84-63) last week in NJCAA Division II Region X competition.

The Lady Indians (15-8, 11-5) have four conference games remaining and hope to lock up a top-spot heading into the post-season region tournament.

In the on-the-road win over Catawba Valley on Monday, February 7th, the Lady Indians shot 39.5 percent from the floor, went 12-19 in free throws, and had 15 turnovers in the game. Amari Hunter scored 24 points and claimed 6 rebounds to lead on the boards. Antwanique Walley had 11 points and 12 rebounds and Shatyra Moore had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Other scoring included Omari Kirkland with 9 points, Jasmine Norman with nine points, Lauryn Bell with five points, and Janise Shaw with four points.

At home against on Southwest VA on Saturday, February 12, Salkehatchie was led by Hunter with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Norman added 16 points and Kirkland had 14 points. Other scoring included Walley with 14 points; Moore with eight; Koila Adams with six points; Lauryn Bell with two; Lakeyn Boyd with two; and Shaw with two points.

Salkehatchie will host Johnson Community College on Wednesday February 16 at home at 6 p.m.
