Lady Hawk Volleyball earns Region IV-AA win over Hilton Head Prep

The Colleton Prep Lady Hawk Volleyball team earned their first SCISA Region IV-AA win last week in a 3-1 decision over Hilton Head Prep. The Lady Hawks went 3-0 on the week and improved to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in region competition.

Against Calhoun Academy on Monday, September 13, the Lady Hawks earned the win in three sets going 25-7, 25-21 and 25-22. Emily Wilson had 1 kill, 3 aces, 3 digs and 17 assists in the game. Linley Jones had 9 aces and 8 digs. Other scoring included Jessica Hughes 3 kills, 2 aces, 5 digs; Caroline Kinard 6 kills, 2 aces, 3 digs; Taylor Tomedolskey 5 kills, 3 aces, 4 digs; Kaylee Warren 1 ace; Caroline Mock 2 kills; and Cassie Craven 1 kill.

In the win over Orangeburg Prep on Wednesday, September 15, the Lady Hawks won the first two sets (25-12, 25-15), then lost the third set (25-24), and earned the win in the tiebreaker (25-11). Wilson recorded 1 kill, 1 block, 6 aces, 5 digs, and 31 assists and Jones had 6 kills, 4 aces, and 13 digs to lead the way. Other scoring included Hughes 5 kills, 5 aces, 2 digs; Kinard 8 kills, 7 aces, 7 digs; Tomedolskey 9 kills, 2 blocks, 2 aces, 6 digs; Warren 3 kills, 2 digs; Mock 1 kill and Craven 1 kill.

The Lady Hawks hosted Region IV-AA opponent Hilton Head Prep Thursday September 16. Colleton Prep lost the first set 25-14, then won three straight (25-22, 22-15, 25-22) to claim their first region win of the season. Wilson again led in assists with 16, along with 1 block, 3 aces, and 7 digs. Tomedolskey had 4 kills, 1 ace, and 12 digs and Jones had 1 kill, 4 aces and 11 digs. Other scoring included Hughes 1 kill, 3 aces, 1 dig; Kinard 8 kills, 4 aces, 7 digs; Warren 1 kill, 1 ace; Mock 1 kill, 1 dig; Craven 2 kills; and Lana Catterton 2 digs.

“We had a great week of play, going 3-0 with a big win against Hilton Head Prep,” said Coach David Roper. “I am really proud of these young ladies.”

The Lady Hawks were scheduled to travel to Jefferson Davis Academy on Monday, September 20, before beginning a two-game home stand against Holy Trinity on Tuesday, September 21 and against Patrick Henry Academy on Thursday, September 23.
