Lady Hawk Softball wins two

The Colleton Prep varsity softball team earned two wins after returning to competition following a lull in their schedule. The Lady Hawks defeated Laurence Manning Academy 3-1 on March 23 and Orangeburg Prep 9-0 on March 28. Colleton Prep is 3-1 overall.

Haley Bootle allowed just one hit in the win over Laurence Manning. Bootle went the distance, allowing one hit and one run while striking out six and walking none. Colleton Prep tallied eight hits. Hannah Strickland went 3-3 at the plate to lead the Lady Hawks. Taylor Tomedolskey and Linley Jones had two hits in the game. Hannah Strickland, Taylor Tomedolskey, and Linley Jones (three stolen bases) each collected multiple hits in the game.

K. Avis took the loss for Laurence Manning, surrendering three runs on eight hits over seven innings, striking out eight. M. Speigal went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead the Swampcats.

Against Orangeburg Prep, Bootle allowed no runs on two hits over seven innings, striking out 15 and walking one. Makenzie Pellum went 4-4 at the plate with 2-RBIs as she doubled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth. Tomedolskey went 2-4 and Sidney Bailey and Bootle recorded a hit.

The Lady Hawks were scheduled to travel to John Paul II on March 29 and host Laurence Manning the following day.
