Lady Cougars struggle to hit shots

The Colleton County Lady Cougars struggled to hit their shots in back-to-back Region VII-AAAA losses last week against James Island High School (60-26) and Bluffton High School (47-17). Colleton County dropped to 11-9 overall and 3-8 in conference play.

Against James Island on Tuesday, February 1 on the road, the Lady Cougars shot 29-percent from the floor and only hit 2-16 free throws with 28 turnovers in the game. Makayla Chisolm led with 7 points and 2 rebounds. Other scoring included Shandi Brown 5, Makalya Padgett 5, Xiomara Oxner 4, Ma’kayla Brown 3, and Bethany Monroe 2.

In the loss to Bluffton High School on Friday, February 4 at home, Colleton County shot 14-percent in overall field goals, hit 6-11 free throws, and had 21 turnovers in the game. Only three players scored in the contest including Chisolm 8, Monroe 7, and Heaven Green 2.

Colleton County was scheduled to host Beaufort High School on Monday, February 7 in a makeup game from earlier this season. The Lady Cougars will then travel to the Eagle the following evening in the last regular season game.
