The Colleton County varsity girls basketball team improved to 7-2 overall after earning wins last week over Academic Magnet (39-37), Woodland High School (50-45) and Battery Creek High School (45-37).
In the at-home win over Academic Magnet last Wednesday, December 8th, the Lady Cougars recorded 23 total rebounds, 8 assists, 3 blocked shots, and 15 steals. Shandi Brown scored 14 points.
Heaven Green added 8 points and Makayla Chisolm scored 7 points. Other scoring included Bethany Monroe (6) and Makalya Padgett (4.)
On the road against Woodland High School on Friday, December 10, Colleton County had 31 total rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocked shots and 16 steals. Shandi Brown led with 18 points and Green added 11 points. Other scoring included Chisolm (8); Monroe (6); Makalya Brown (6); and Padgett (1).
Then, playing at home against Battery Creek on Saturday December 11, Shandi Brown scored 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Monroe added 12 points and Chisolm had 10 points. M. Brown scored 2 points.
Colleton County will open Region VII-AAAA play on Tuesday, December 14 against May River High School on the road, then travel to Hanahan the following day for a non-region contest.
