Lady Cougars nab win over May River

The Colleton County Lady Cougar Softball team split Region VII-AAAA games last week, earning a 6-3 win over May River High School on Tuesday, April 19, after falling 9-3 to Beaufort High School the day before. Currently, the Lady Cougars are 7-5 overall and 5-3 in Region VII-AAAA.

In the loss to Beaufort High School Monday April 18, Sydney Stivender took the loss for Colleton County, lasting seven innings, allowing eight hits and nine runs, while striking out eight. Jordan Slocum, Lanasia Sanders, Makayla Chisolm, Bailey Cox, and Riley Adona each recorded a hit in the game.

K. Rast started in the circle for Beaufort, allowing five hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out 11. Karley Rouse went 3-3 at the plate for the Lady Eagles.

The following evening, Colleton County earned a 6-3 win over May River High School. Stivender earned the win, surrendering three runs on three hits across seven innings of work, striking out four. Makayla Chisolm went 3-4 on the day to lead the Lady Cougars. Cox and Slocum recorded multiple hits on the day.

Colleton County has a two-game series against Lucy Beckham to finish out their conference schedule this week. They will face Woodland High School on April 28 on the road and travel to Timberland High School the following evening.
