Lady Cougars hoping to stay alive in AAAA Playoffs

The Colleton County Lady Cougar Softball team finished the regular season 9-6 overall and 7-4 in Region VII, capturing a No. 3 seed in the AAAA Lower State Playoffs. The Lady Cougars fell 11-1 against North Myrtle Beach High School in game one played on May 3.

Dropping into the loser’s bracket, Colleton County dominated Hilton Head High School (16-5) in game two. Colleton County was scheduled to travel back to North Myrtle Beach on May 9 for an elimination game. Should the Lady Cougars earn the win, they would face North Augusta High School on May 11.

In the 11-1 loss to Myrtle Beach, the Lady Cougars fell behind early and could not come back after surrendering four homeruns on the day. Sydney Stivender took the loss in the circle for Colleton County. Makayla Chisolm went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Colleton County. Bailey Cox, Jordan Slocum, and Makenzie Pellum each recorded a hit.

Prior to the start of the playoffs, the Lady Cougars finished out their regular season with wins over Lucy Beckham (17-0, 20-0) and a shut-out loss to James Island High School (11-0). Chisolm recorded a 5-RBI- day in game one against Lucy Beckham and Jordan Slocum went 4-4 with 3-RBI’s in game two.
