The Cougars loss to Cane Bay, 10-3, was a rout, as the Cobras pounded out 10 hits and four home runs, with the Cougars committing six errors. Along the way, Cane Bay scored four runs in the fifth inning to put the game away while adding another two in the sixth, to underscore their victory.

Speaking of routs, it was CCHS gaining the accolade as it bounced back in their game against Branchville, defeating their opponent 12-8.

In that game, Makayla Chisolm led the Cougars with three hits, while Shanda Brown and Baily Cox contributed two hits apiece. Cox would add three RBIs, while “Bugz” Eversole knocked in two “ribbies.”

However, the game against the West Ashley Wildcats proved to be a squeaker, and the Cougars had to rally to defeat the Wildcats, 6-3.

Tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, CCHS scored three times. A batter hit by pitch led to RBI singles from from Eversole, Brown and Jordan Slocum. Overall, the Cougars were paced by Brown, with three hits; Eversole’s three RBIs; and another two RBIs added by Holmes.
