Lady Cougar Volleyball records tough week in region competition



The Colleton County Lady Cougar Volleyball team had a tough week in Region VII-AAAA suffering losses against James Island High School, Hilton Head and May River. The Lady Cougars finished last week 2-6 in Region VII-AAAA.

In on-the-road play against James Island on Monday, October 4th, the Lady Cougars were swept in straight sets going 26-16, 25-9 and 25-9. They recorded 10 kills in the game with Taylor Gertrude and Hannah Bunton each having three. Jordan Slocum added two, and Carlie Erwin and Bayleigh Crosby each had one. Ashlyn Sarvis had 10 assists.

At home Tuesday October 5 against Hilton Head, the Lady Cougars lost in straight sets 25-12, 25-12 and 25-17.

On the road against May River High School on Thursday, October 7, Colleton County lost 25-9, 25-11 and 25-13. They recorded six kills in the game with Carlie Erwin having three of those.

“This was a hard week for the Lady Cougars, with back-to-back games and little to no practice,” said Coach Hannah Perritte. “I am hopeful to finish the rest of the season on a good note. We have four games left in the season.”

The Lady Cougars were scheduled to travel to Bluffton Tuesday October 12, before hosting the Lady Bobcats the following evening. James Island will be in town on Thursday, October 14 for “Pink Out Night” in awareness of Breast Cancer Month. Colleton County will honor their senior players against Wade Hampton on Monday, October 18 in their final home match of the season.
