Lady Cougar Volleyball falls to 2-9 in region play

The Colleton County varsity volleyball team lost to Region VII-AAAA opponent Bluffton High School on back-to-back nights last week before suffering a loss to James Island High School. The Lady Cougars are 2-9 overall and in Region VII-AAAA after missing their entire non-conference schedule due to COVID-19 and quarantine.

Against Bluffton High School on the road on Monday, October 12, the Lady Cougars fell in straight sets 25-15, 25-19, and 25-16. Hannah Bunton earned 5 kills and 4 blocks. Ashlyn Sarvis recorded 10 assists in the game.

The following evening, Bluffton came to town and would garner another three-set win 25-13, 25-17 and 25-14. Hannah Bunton and Jordan Slocum each recorded 4 kills and Carlie Erwin had three kills. Bailey Cox received 33 perfect passes on the night.

Hosting James Island High School on Thursday, October 14, the Lady Cougars again lost in straight sets going 25-11, 25-8 and 25-21. Erwin and Slocum each had 4 kills, while Bunton had 3 kills. Cox recorded 15 digs and received the ball with 34 perfect passes. Sarvis had 15 assists.

Colleton County was scheduled to play Wade Hampton on Senior Night, which was held on Monday, October 18. This was their final game of the season.
