The Colleton County varsity softball team earned an 11-0 shutout victory over Battery Creek High School on Wednesday, March 2 at home. Sydney Stivender earned the start for the Lady Cougars, allowing one hit and no runs over four innings, striking out four and walking zero. Shandi Brown and Lanasia Sanders both gained experience in the circle in relief and combined with Stivender for the shutout.

Colleton County’s offense tallied 14 hits in the game with Bailey Cox, Maggie Kennedy, Jordan Slocum, Brown, and Makayla Chisolm recording multiple hits. Sanders, Alexa Eversole, Riley Adona, and Christasia Holmes each recorded a hit.

“Our bats were really strong against Battery Creek, which is a great thing,” said Coach Tootie Edwards. “I think we are coming together as a team.”

The Lady Cougars opened their regular season with a two-game series against Wade Hampton High School, scheduled on March 7 on the road before hosting the Red Devils on Wednesday.
