The Colleton County Lady Cougar Soccer team is off to a 3-3 start on the 2021-22 season.

The Lady Cougars earned wins in their first three non-region matches against Edisto (12-0), Colleton Prep Academy (4-0) and Whale Branch Early College High School (11-1). The Lady Cougars fell against Region VII-AAAA opponents May River High School (6-1), Lucy Beckham (6-0) and Hilton Head High School (11-2).

Sierra Obenaus scored two goals in the loss to Hilton Head High School.

“In the games against Edisto and Whale Branch Early College High School, we were able to work our passing patterns and score off thing we practiced throughout the week,” said Coach Danielle van Hulst. “Our offense and defense had to piece together against Colleton Prep, but we worked hard, and the Lady Hawks made us work for it. Colleton Prep will have a good season and I totally believe they will come back fighting in the next game as they were doing well with their passing patterns and fighting for the ball.”

“Against Lucy Beckham and Hilton Head, injuries and sickness were hitting us hard,” said van Hulst. “We also have half the team playing hurt. In addition, we are struggling to play as a team and in communication. Faith Bishop has stepped up for us as sweeper due to Lyndsey Montjoy being out for the season.”
