Walmart welcomed a small but special group at 9:00 a.m. on December 21, as some Colleton children were there to shop with School Resource Officers (SRO) from the Colleton County Sheriff’s department.

SROs were happy to escort 11 children as they shopped for Christmas, traveling up and down aisles and throughout the store searching for items on their Christmas lists.

Several of the little girls passed by the toys and headed straight for the shoe section to find sparkly tennis shoes.

Another little girl took the cart away from the officer and went straight to the clothing, saying she wanted a Christmas shirt. He followed behind, knowing she was on a mission.

Officer Jimmy Wiggins enjoyed being part of the event. “We enjoy doing this for the kids. It’s all about the children.,” said Wiggins.

“I and the Colleton County Sheriff s Office School Resource Officer Division would like to extend a special thank you to the following businesses and community members for their contributions in helping to ensure the 1st annual Colleton County Sheriff’s Office shop with a hero event was a success. Your generous contributions made an enormous impact on our children and future leaders,” said Cpl. James Brown, Colleton County Sheriff s Office Community Liaison Officer.
