The trial of Alex Murdaugh and everything that came with it has a hefty price tag. No matter which side of the verdict the general populace stands on, the entire process has cost the SC taxpayers money. Receipts indicate that approximately a half-million dollars of South Carolina taxpayer money was spent to try Alex Murdaugh for the murders of his wife and son. Out of the monies spent, Hampton Inn comes in at $192,000 to house the state employees while the trial progressed. Attorney General Condon acknowledges the costs may be of concern but feels it is reasonable.
