Janice Stringfield Sauls, wife of David E. Sauls III, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021 at her home under hospice care with her family by her side.

Janice was born March 23, 1955 in Walterboro, a daughter of the late Jesse Donald “Jack” Stringfield and Susie Stringfield, and was a 1973 graduate of Walterboro High School.  Janice retired from the Colleton County Superintendent of Education’s office after 34 years of dedicated service.  She enjoyed horse back riding, which started at a young age.  She said the best thing her Daddy ever bought for her was a little marsh tacky horse she named “Smokey”.

Janice enjoyed traveling, especially in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Closer to home she enjoyed visiting Botany Bay, Bear Island and the Donnelly Wildlife refuge…always with a camera in hand.  She was an avid wildlife photographer, having photos published in the S. C. Wildlife Magazine, Sandlapper Magazine, and other publications.  Janice’s love of animals, nature and photography were exceptional.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, David E. Sauls, III., by her father-in-law David E. Sauls, Jr, by her sister-in-law Cindy Woodward, by two brothers, Donnie Stringfield (Teresa) and Whitney Stringfield (Brigitte), by one sister Joni Varnadoe (Bobby), and by a loving host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
