James “JC” Clarence Davis

 James “JC” Clarence Davis, age 90, was called home on June 2, 2022, in Sacramento, California. 

JC was the youngest of Clarence and Ethel Davis’ five children.  Enlisting in the Army after high school  he simultaneously served in the Korean War with two brothers.  JC served a three-year tour, then returned to his Walterboro, SC hometown, meeting his life’s love, Helen “DollBaby” Lawery, saying, “that was my lucky day!”  They married August 27, 1953, enjoying 68 years of marriage.

JC joined the U.S. Air Force, retraining as an Airborne Radio Operator, to support his growing family. While in the USAF, he served in the Vietnam Conflict, then duty assignments in  Germany, France, Libya, and the Philippine Islands, as well as various bases stateside.  Restationed often at McClellan AFB, the family settled in North Highlands, CA eventually joining First Baptist Church, with JC fully supporting their involvement in various programs and committees.  His favorite song and scripture were “Amazing Grace” and Philippians 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

JC was predeceased by his wife, Helen; sons, Stanley, Sterling, and Maurice Davis;  grandsons, Jonathan Davis and Joshua Cashwell; both parents; siblings, Louise Simmons, Smith Davis, Ralph Davis, and Herbert Davis. Surviving children; son Reginald (Rashanda) Davis;  daughters, Jacqueline (Joseph, Jr) Bennett, Shaunda Davis, Jaime Davis Nash, and bonus Debbie Antoine Cashwell; goddaughter LaTonjaa Austin; grandchildren, Danyelle  Bennett, Karen (Jeremy) Riley, Darryl (Shelena) Bennett, Nicole Rogers, Jared Cashwell, Alonzo “J’Vaughn” Nash, Jaymison Davis, Aaliyah “Jaz” Davis,  Jonatae “Jax” Davis; great-grandchildren, Kephland “Ja’Quarius” Davis, Rasheen Riley, Autumn Bennett, Toija Bennett, Akirah Maloney, Jahmad Bennett, Nevaeh Davis, Amaiyah Tolentino, Briana Tolentino; great-great grandchildren, Janaya Davis & Kayden Davis; a host of nieces,  nephews, relatives and friends.                 

After a full military burial JC will be interred with Helen at Beaufort National Cemetery in South Carolina, on June 30, 2022.
