Mr. Jackie David Craven, Sr., 78, of Walterboro, entered into rest Friday evening, February 26, 2021, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Born February 4, 1943, in Colleton County, he was a son of the late Eugene Craven and the late Inez Evans Craven. He served in the South Carolina National Guard and from there transitioned into a career in law enforcement.  He was a patrolman with the South Carolina Highway Patrol before starting as a Police Officer with the City of Walterboro. After his days in law enforcement, he worked alongside his brother in iron work construction until his retirement.   Jackie was a family man, he was devoted to his family and dearly loved them.   He also enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. 

Surviving are: his wife of fifty-seven years, Mrs. Willie Mae Cook Craven; two daughters, Tina McDonald and her husband Cecil of Lexington and Lynn Roberts of Walterboro; a brother, Bobby Craven of Walterboro; and a sister, Frances Steiner of Branchville.   There are five grandchildren, Josh McDonald, Dannielle Moore (and son, Jaden), Jeremy McDonald, Colton Craven, and Dusten Craven; six great grandchildren as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews whom affectionately knew him as “Boogie”.  He was preceded in death by his son, Jackie David Craven, Jr.; and a son-in-law, Tex Roberts.

In consideration of the current situation that exists with our nationwide pandemic, a service celebrating his life will be held at a future date which will be announced as plans are made once things subside with the Coronavirus.
