Indians 3-4 in Region X at halfway point

The Salkehatchie Indians are currently 12-10 overall and 3-4 in NJCAA Region X at the midpoint of the conference schedule. The Indians earned a 93-86 win over Caldwell College last week and had losses against Denmark Tech (66-63), Spartanburg Methodist (103-100), and Richard Bland College (67-45).

In the win over Caldwell College on Sunday, January 23 at home, Salkehatchie shot 47.9 percent in overall field goals and went 11-19 in free throws with 22 turnovers. Jordan Guthrie led with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Derrick Sinkler added 19 points with 5 rebounds. Other scoring included Lee Langstaff 16, Trevur Smalls 16, Tre’Von Spillers 10, Kailee White 6, Diamante Brown 3, and Kharye Cayne 2.

In on-the-road play against Spartanburg Methodist on Monday, January 24th, the Indians shot 27.1 percent in fields goals and was 23-30 in free throws with 15 turnovers in the game.

On the road against Richard Bland on Sunday, January 30, the Indians shot 26.4 percent from the field, went 13-21 in free throws, and recorded 17 turnovers.

Salkehatchie will host Spartanburg Methodist on Thursday, February 3 with a 7 p.m. tipoff planned. Cape Fear will be in town Saturday, February 5 for a 4 p.m. game.
