Horse show series opens

Grass Roots & Dusty Boots welcomed the first open horse show of a four-show series on Saturday, March 26, at the Double D Arena on Rodeo Drive.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m., riders and horses in 66 show classes competed to be judged the winners for their events.

Show classes were English, Western, Ranch, Driving, Assisted Rider, Halter, Horsemanship, Reinsmanship, In-Hand Jumping, and Small Equine, pony or horse.

All levels of horsemanship were allowed to participate: youth, adults, beginners and experienced riders.

Along with competitors on location, vendors were also on site and sold clothing, cowboy hats, saddles, tack, bridles, and other accessories for riders and horses.

Island Tack Shack from John’s Island had products on sale.

Members from the Charleston Equine clinic were on hand to treat any injuries.
