For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
The prevailing philosophy of our world is humanism: the belief that mankind is good and the hope for our future. I disagree with this belief because of our history. Humanity has advanced in technology, information, and ability but we have not eliminated the malice and hatred within the human heart. The powerful still exploit the weak, and the rich take from the poor. In our thousands of years of recorded civilization, we have failed to conquer the selfishness of our own hearts and continue to lift our hands in violence against each other. The answer isn’t in ourselves.
No plan born of mankind will achieve the peace, perfection, and potential that we all dream of because our selfishness will emerge. We are stained by our own sin and everything men or women do carries the marks of our defiance against God. The brokenness of men permeates every creation of man.
Our failure doesn’t have to be final. God, in His great love, has made a way for our redemption. Through Jesus Christ, God has given fallen mankind the gift of eternal life. We do not have to receive what our sins deserve, the limitations of our failures, or the consequences of our weaknesses. There is hope for us because Jesus saves sinners like you and me!
Do you want this hope to be yours? Repent of your disobedience against God. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God sent to earth to pay our penalty for our sins. Believe that Jesus’ death and resurrection have the power to make you right with God. Pray to God and ask Him to make you His child.
