National EMS week this year is from May 18-24, 2025. Cities and towns around the country will honor their emergency service members for the dedication and service the give to all our communities.
Paramedics and EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) are critical components of Emergency Medical Services. In Colleton County we are fortunate to have an outstanding Emergency Management Association in Colleton County Fire-Rescue. CCFR is led by Fire Chief Barry McRoy. The firefighters in CCFR are not firefighters only. They are also certified Paramedics and EMTs upon receiving their certifications. The ability for the firefighters to provide lifesaving interventions while on scene is critical for the citizens of Colleton County when you take into the account the size of the county. It takes a person of exceptional fortitude to run towards the danger instead of away to help their fellow citizens.
