Homeless man arrested after resisting officers’ search

A homeless man who was found in an abandoned Colleton County house was tasered after he refused to cooperate with officers. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the man was discovered inside a house when someone spotted his bike on the property and called authorities. The suspect had active warrants issued by the S.C. Probation, Pardons and Parole Department. While searching him, however, the suspect began arguing with officers over removing his underwear, the report states. The suspect then slapped a taser out of the officers’ hands. He was ultimately tased and did not require medical treatment.

CCFR station vandalized
On June 23, law enforcement officers were called a Colleton County Fire-Rescue station because someone tried to pry open the bay door. The door had been opened by a solid object and was ajar about 12 inches, according to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report. CCFR supervisors said the building was fine and nothing was missing. The case remains under investigation.

Brush fire grows out of control
A camper caught fire last week when a brush fire grew out of control. Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office responded to Lafayette Lane about a fire that had spread from one neighbor’s property to another. The fire then spread to an RV and to a camper. No one was injured. The fire is under investigation by the sheriff’s office.

School bus stolen from parking lot
A school bus was stolen from the Colleton County Head Start parking lot. Authorities were notified on June 22 when a suspect went to the Burr Hill Road parking lot and stole the school bus, which was parked on the property. The bus did have the keys inside, the report states. Another set of school bus keys were also stolen from another bus that was parked on the property. Investigators did review security cameras, but nothing was seen except for the school bus driving away, the report states. The case is under investigation.
