A 41-year-old Walterboro man was injured in a reported hit-and-run in the 1200 block of Burlington Road Tuesday evening June 9 at 9:25 p.m.
The man said he was riding his moped on Burlington Road when he was struck by a car. The car did not stop and left the scene. The man was found with multiple traumatic injuries lying in the roadway.
Firefighter-paramedics treated him at the scene and placed a medical helicopter on standby. He was transported by ambulance to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center, then flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
