Walterboro resident Gary Hermann donated his 19th gallon of blood at the July Red Cross blood drive, starting on his 20th gallon at the September drive.
“That means he has donated 153 pints of blood. According to the Red Cross, his blood may have saved as many as 459 lives,” said coordinator Norma Weeks. “Not bad for a new grandfather who will never see his 60s again. Thank you, Gary Hermann.
The September drive collected 52 pints of blood.
