He Who Hesitates...

Read Genesis 19-21. In Gen. 19:16, after being warned of the city’s im-pending destruction, Lot hesitated in his obedience. Some translations say, he lingered. His wife and family enjoyed the lifestyle there, and perhaps he did, too. Therefore, he hesitated in his obedience, and it almost cost him his life. It did take the life of his wife.

Do you think it’s possible, even for believers, to become so enchanted by things that rival our affection for Jesus that we hesitate when the Spirit and the scriptures warn us of danger?

Hesitation can be costly!

Romans 12:1-1 says, “Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”

Jesus said, in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be provided for you.”

What activities in your life take precedence over God?

Pray: Lord, help me to quick obey You. Help me to be quick to turn away from temptation. Help me to err on the side of grace and generosity and entrust my welfare and future into Your hands.
