HCA, one of the nation’s leading healthcare providers, and Colleton Medical Center’s parent company, recently announced that it has been recognized by Military Times as one of the country’s best employers based on the organization’s military-connected employment programs, benefits and support efforts. Since 2012, HCA Healthcare has hired more than 39,000 veterans, active-duty personnel and military spouses.

The rankings are based on a voluntary survey that included questions on companies’ policies and practices related to veteran recruitment and retention, support for translation of military skills to civilian credentials, support for military spouse employment and accommodations for members of the National Guard and reserves.

Colleton Medical Center’s chief nursing officer Jamie Kabunuk said, “I am honored to have served in the Army and blessed to be part of the HCA family. As a military veteran, I gained many skills which I have used as a nursing leader in HCA. Decision-making, integrity, and teamwork are essential skills that I have adapted from my military to civilian career. When I joined HCA over seven years ago, I quickly recognized that the skills I gained in the military and my commitment to service would benefit my nursing positon. I began my journey with HCA as a registered nurse in the emergency department and currently serve as the CNO at Colleton Medical Center.”

HCA Healthcare has been nationally recognized as a military-friendly employer and military-spouse friendly employer for 10 consecutive years by VIQTORY. In 2015, the Company received the US Chamber of Commerce Hiring our Heroes – Lee Anderson Award for overall excellence in hiring and retaining veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses.
