The Colleton Prep War Hawks’ magical season came to an end Saturday afternoon when the Hawls fell to 42-21 to Williamsburg Academy at Charleston Southern Stadium in the state championships.

The War Hawks actually led after the first quarter 7-0, only to see Williamsburg come back to take a 21-14 lead at half-time. Williamsburg then outscored Colleton Prep 20-7 in the second half to make the final score 42-21.

Offensively, the War Hawks were led by Cole Davis, who rushed for 54 yards on 16 carries. He also completed seven of 16 passing attempts for 229 yards and two touchdowns. Walker Bryan accounted for 98 yards receiving and a touchdown, while Caden Crosby had 66 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Defensively, the Hawks were led by Drew Rushton with 6.5 tackles, Gus Warren with six tackles with Cole Davis adding five tackles.

“I am so proud of the effort our guys gave tonight. They left it all on the field; unfortunately, we just came up a little short. That’s a very good Williamsburg team, so our guys have nothing to hang their heads about. Tonight they were able to control the line of scrimmage and we just could not get our running game going,” said Head Coach Greg Langdale.

“I am so proud of each and everyone of these players and the work they put in this season. Hopefully, this is just the start of good football at Colleton Prep,” said Langdale.

“It’s still a great day to be a War Hawk, “ said Langdale.
