The Colleton Prep War Hawk Wrestling team opened its 2019 regular season last week on the road. The young team was able to fill 7 of 14 weight classes in a tri-match against Cross High School and Lakewood High School. Competing in the event for the War Hawks were Carter Sims, Nathaniel Blubaugh, Gavin Padgett, Nicholas Blubaugh, Francis Blubaugh, Ryan Mcmillen, Thomas Craven and Jackson Sims.

Colleton Prep fell to Lakewood 60-12 with wins from Carter Sims (120) who won by pin over A. Hernandez, and another win by forfeit for Nicholas Blubaugh (132).
Against Cross, the War Hawks fell 54-12 with wins from Nathaniel and Francis Blubaugh (126).
“Nathaniel had an exciting come-from-behind, hard-earned pin over E. Salters,” said Coach Packy Burke. “Francis (138) made light work of his first season victory by pinning J. Mendez in 30 seconds.”
Colleton Prep competed in the May River Two-Day Individual Invitational held December 6-7 in Bluffton. Out of 17 competing teams, primarily SCHSL teams, the War Hawks finished with 10 points. Jackson Sims (182) earned a win over Trequan Stokes (CCHS). Ryan Mcmillen (152) earned wins over Adam Burvenich (Beaufort) and Ethan Beach (CCHS).
The War Hawks were scheduled to host their only home match Tuesday Dec. 10 in a tri-match that included Military Magnet and John Paul II.
