Hawk Wrestling earns win

The Colleton Prep Wrestling team finished the regular season on a high note, earning a 30-21 victory over SCHSL Orangeburg Wilkinson High School in a one-on-one dual meet Tuesday Feb. 4 on the road.

Originally slated as a tri-match to include Fairfield Central, the meet turned into a dual when the flu forced Fairfield Central to dropout.

Results from the win over Orangeburg Wilkinson include: 113 – Carter Sims (CPA) pin over Trenton Wren (OW); 126 – Gavin Padgett (CPA) forfeit; 132 – Nathaniel Blubaugh (CPA) pin over Amare Johnson (OW); 138 – Francis Blubaugh (CPA) pin over Avery Folk (OW); 152 – Ryan Mcmillen (CPA) forfeit; 170 – Jason Singleton (OW) 7-4 decision over Thomas Craven (CPA); 182 – Jacob Brown (OW) pin over Jackson Sims (CPA).

“This match was recorded on a live stream through Facebook and the Orangeburg Schools Sports Network,” said Coach Packy Burke. “The kids were excited to have their match recorded live; they couldn’t wait to get back on the bus to watch their matches.”

Colleton Prep will participate in the SCISA Individual State Wrestling Tournament to be held at Cardinal Newman Saturday Feb. 15.
