Harter hits 1,000 career points in front of home crowd

In front of a home crowd Friday Dec. 13, Colleton Prep senior Langley Harter had a stellar night against non-region Faith Christian Academy, scoring 42 points to reach a milestone of 1,000 career points. Harter led the Lady Hawks to their second win of the season in the 66-24 victory. The Lady Hawks are currently 2-4 overall.

Results so far this season include:

CPA vs. Dorchester Academy 52-42 (loss) Tuesday Dec. 3

CPA: Langley Harter – 23 points; Tomedolskey – 10; Rianna Bailey – 4; Heather Davis – 3; and Becca Martin 2. Dorchester Academy – Hofsletter 15; Varn 14; Gruber 13. CPA vs. Calhoun Academy 45 -27 (loss) Wednesday Dec. 4 CPA: Harter – 20 points; Davis – 3; Bailey – 2; and Tomedolskey – 2. Calhoun: Haigler – 15; Arant – 10; and Kizer 8.

CPA vs. Faith Christian Academy 40–27 (win) Friday Dec. 6

CPA: Harter – 16; Davis – 10; Bailey – 7; Wright – 4; Tomedolskey 3. Faith Christian Academy: Tisdale – 14; Gonzalez – 5; H. Gonzalez – 4 and Lee-Frayer 4.

CPA vs. Dorchester Academy 54–35 (loss) Monday Dec. 9

CPA: Langley Harter - 15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals; Heather Davis - 4 points and 2 rebounds; Rachel Wright - 11 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals; Taylor Tomedolskey - 5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals; Rianna Bailey - 4 rebounds. Dorchester Academy: Abigail Weathers – 4; Vivian Weathers – 17; Savanna Varn – 14; Lydia Hofsletter – 8; Maura Weathers – 6; Laura Singletary – 2; and Cassidy Gruber – 3.

“Dorchester Academy is always a tough team to play,” said Coach Nicole Cain. “They are definitely not more talented than we are; we just weren’t prepared mentally for this game.”

CPA vs. Faith Christian Academy 66–24 (win) Friday Dec. 13

CPA: Harter - 42 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals; Davis - 2 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists; Wright - 4 points, 10 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 steals; Bailey - 2 points, 9 rebounds; and Tomedolskey 16 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists. Faith Christian Academy: Lily Massey – 4; Princess Tisdale – 7; Carmen Gonzolez – 6; and Sarah Cokes – 5.

“The girls played awesome tonight,” said Cain. “They worked together and played great. Langley scored a career high of 42 points; not only a career high; but she scored her 1000th point as a varsity player at CPA – an amazing feat.”

CPA vs. Calhoun Academy 45–34 (loss) Monday Dec. 16

CPA: Harter - 24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals; Davis - 9 points, 4 rebounds; Tomedolskey - 1 point, 2 rebounds, 2 assists; and Bailey - 6 rebounds. Calhoun Academy: Faith Bookhart – 4; Kaylee Kizer – 14; Anna Porth – 2; Laken Barnes – 3; Sarah Grace Kizer – 5; and Rebekah Haigler – 17.

“With one of our key starters and leaders out tonight we struggled,” said Cain. “Rachel is a strong leading voice on the team and with her being out we felt it. The girls played hard the entire game. At half time, four of our starters had three fouls each and we trailed 25-18 at the half. Tomedolskey got her fourth foul midway through the third quarter and had to sit. Becca Martin stepped up and replaced Rachel in the starting line-up. Laura Barnes and Hannah Strickland saw some action during the second half.”

Colleton Prep was scheduled to host the 2019 CPA Christmas Basketball Tournament December 19-21. They will begin Region 1-AA competition Friday Jan. 3 against John Paul II on the road.
