“The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.”
The Judgement of God is often not what or when we would expect. We think of Him in terms that match our tone or abilities to “get even.”
I have discovered that God can and will do much more to handle my problems than I ever could!
Only God would think to destroy the whole world by a flood and spare one righteous family to repopulate the planet. Only God would think to rain down fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah. Only God would think to turn Lot’s wife into a pillar of salt for her disobedience. Only God would think to judge Ananias and Sapphira with sudden death for lying to the Holy Ghost. While we know that God is the God of mercy, grace, love and forgiveness, we cannot forget that He too is the God of justice, judgment and swift and severe punishments. God decided that the Lake of Fire would be adequate and appropriate punishment for the devil and any who follow him.
When God moves in judgment, no one can stay His hand. He crushed the armies of His enemies under the waters of the Red Sea. He put to flight the arrogant Philistines who trusted in their champion, Goliath. He astonished King Nebuchadnezzar by being the Fourth Man in the Fire and King Darius by shutting the mouths of the lions. He won the eternal victory over death, hell and the grave when He rose from the dead. He has offered the free gift of salvation to anyone who would turn to Him in faith, from their sins.
God is unstoppable and unchangeable.
As His child, I feel safe knowing that this same God is watching over me. He has never failed to defend me and deal with all those who would lift their hand against me. Truly, no weapon formed against me has prospered!
I remember a problem I had one time — one where I seriously considered how I was going to “get even” or “pay them back” for what they did to me. It was in that time of struggle and serious contemplation that God moved my heart to understand this truth: No matter what I could think to do that would have “punished” my enemy, I could never come up with what God had in mind.
I waited patiently on the Lord and He delivered me! I have been given a front row seat to see the Lord fight my battles for me and deliver me as He proves His mighty power and does much more to win my battles for me than I ever could have on my own!
I have literally watched Him take care of my problems piece by piece — and that gives me peace!
You can too!
Trust Jesus Christ today as your Lord and Saviour. Follow Him. Trust Him. Let Him fight your battles for you. You can live in the victory of His promises and the truth of His word. He is able and is willing to defend those who trust in Him!
