A Family Fun Day is planned for February 15 at the Colleton Saddle Club.
Located at 1670 Hendersonville Highway in Walterboro, the Colleton Saddle Club will provide an opportunity for children, families and animal lovers to get outside and enjoy the activities while raising funds for Houston Barr’s rehabilitation and recovery.
Houston Barr, a young Colleton resident, accidentally suffered a severe spinal cord injury just before Christmas last year. After major surgery just to survive, he still faces a long road ahead to be able to walk again. Major reconstruction is needed at his home to make it wheelchair-accessible when his therapy is finished.
And now, friends have decided to step in and help by sponsoring a great day.
Family Fun Day gates will open at 8:30 a.m., and a horse show begins at 9:30. There will be jumping, speed events, barrel racing, arena racing, pole bending and games and classes for peewees, youth and young adults.
Chicken dinner plates will also be available for $10 beginning at 11:30 a.m. Dinners will include chicken leg quarters, rice perlo, green beans and a roll.
For children, there will be games, pony rides and a petting zoo.
Also during the day, prizes will be raffled off. Some of those items are Broxton Bridge Trail Rides, camping tickets, horse tack, dog grooming services, etc.
The events are sponsored by the Colleton Saddle Club, Carolina Chaos Riders, the Over 40 Cowgirls, J&S@Wishwehadafarm, Windsong Farms, Mac’s Auction, Alesia’s Grooming and Boarding, and Broxton Bridge Planation which have dinner tickets for sale.
