Fourth of July shooting suspects still sought



Walterboro Police Officers are still looking for suspects in a Fourth of July shooting where an apartment with six people inside – one of whom was a toddler - was riddled with bullets.

The incident occurred at the Lincoln Apartments on Witsell Street in Walterboro on July 4th.

According to a Walterboro Police Department incident report, one of the adult victims was standing in front of his car when the suspects fired several gunshots, striking his apartment and his vehicle. Two bullet holes were found in the roof of this vehicle. Another bullet struck the rear bedroom window and another bullet was found in the living room, where a 1-year-old child and an adult female were standing.

More bullets were found inside the apartment’s kitchen.

In all, there were six victims inside the apartment at the time of the shooting. The victims’ range in age from 1 year old to 49 years old. No one was injured by the bullets; however, one man hurt his back when he fell in the kitchen during the incident.

As of press deadline, there were no arrests in this case. It remains under investigation and is being treated as an attempted murder.
